Tanvir H. Rahman
Mr. Rahman is a Partner at Filippatos PLLC, and a skilled and versatile trial lawyer with over a decade of unparalleled success and experience representing victims of unlawful conduct in virtually all types of employment disputes.
Formerly a senior lawyer at another powerhouse plaintiffs’ employment and civil rights law firm based in New York City, before briefly opening his own practice, Mr. Rahman joined Filippatos PLLC in 2022 with a focus on zealously representing plaintiffs in the areas of labor and employment law, civil rights law, complex class action litigation, business and commercial law, and appellate litigation.
Mr. Rahman also focuses a significant part of his practice representing courageous survivors of sexual assault, many of whom have bravely come forward in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
Who is Tanvir?
Throughout his career, Mr. Rahman, an incredibly passionate advocate, has successfully litigated countless multi-plaintiff and high net-worth single plaintiff employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and unlawful retaliation cases, helping secure numerous seven- and eight-figure settlements for his clients.
Mr. Rahman has also served as lead counsel for dozens of wage and hour and other types of class action litigations involving classes of aggrieved employees in a wide range of industries, including: transportation; restaurant, night clubs, and hospitality; construction; the solar industry; banking; retail; and workers in the healthcare and insurance fields.
Mr. Rahman has successfully litigated non-employment civil rights cases, including claims of racial and other forms of unlawful profiling, police brutality and misconduct, and discrimination by public accommodations such as high-end retail stores and schools and universities.
Mr. Rahman has also successfully litigated several high value commercial and business disputes, including matters involving alleged breaches of contract; failure to pay bonuses, stock awards, or other incentive compensation; disputes over corporate shareholder status; the enforceability of non-compete/non-solicitation covenants; and allegations of fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and tortious interference.

Mr. Rahman has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice by courts in various states, including California, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
Mr. Rahman has extensive experience litigating matters in arbitration, including before the American Arbitration Association (AAA), JAMS, and FINRA.
Mr. Rahman has also practiced before various administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), and others.
Background & Experience
After completing law school, Mr. Rahman served as a law clerk for multiple trial court judges within the Vermont state court system.
Prior to joining Filippatos PLLC, Mr. Rahman opened his own practice, and before that worked as a senior attorney for nearly ten years at one of the nation’s premier and most feared plaintiffs’ employment and civil rights law firms.
There, Mr. Rahman had the privilege of working closely with and learning from some of the most highly regarded employment and civil rights litigators in the country on a multitude of impactful and influential cases that have gained notoriety over the last decade.
Education
Mr. Rahman, a New York City native, is a proud graduate of the New York University (NYU) School of Law, where he was a member of the school’s Journal of International Law and Politics.

- $12 Million settlement on behalf of former Fox News and Tucker Carlson Live Senior Producer Abby Grossberg in her gender and religious discrimination and retaliation lawsuit, which garnered worldwide coverage and was one of the closest followed cases of this decade.
- $2 Million settlement in a wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of service employees at world-renowned Michelin-star rated restaurant Blue Hill who alleged that they were wrongly denied wages.
- $4.65 Million settlement in a nationwide wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of loan officers at Citi who alleged that they were misclassified as overtime exempt.
- $3.5 Million settlement in a wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of over 500 fleet drivers against Sunny’s Limousine, one of the nation’s largest providers of luxury chauffeur services, alleging numerous violations under federal and state law.
- $1.625 Million settlement in a wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of banquet workers at a popular Long Island wedding and event venue owned by NYIT that allegedly pocketed monies that should have gone to employees as gratuities labeled as “service charges.”
- $1.5 Million settlement (subject to reversion) in a wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of hundreds of telephone call center data collection employees at Opinion Access Corp., alleging various violations of federal and state law.
- $1.34 Million default judgment in federal court on behalf of a woman who alleged she was sexually harassed and unlawfully retaliated against by Gene Freidman, better known as New York City’s infamous “Taxi King.”
- $1 Million settlement in a wage and hour class and collective action on behalf of service employees of a Domino’s pizza franchisee with over 20 locations throughout the tri-state.
- Successful representation of classes of service workers in wage and hour actions against some of New York City’s most popular and trendiest restaurants, social clubs, nightclubs and other hot spots, including Tao, Lavo, Nobu, 230 Fifth, Hakkasan, PHD Rooftop Lounge, PHD Terrace and the Union League Club, with settlements collectively totaling in the multiple millions of dollars.
- Representation of six (6) female physicians in a much-publicized sexual harassment and retaliation case against Yale University and a male supervisor, which included a favorable federal court decision denying the defendants’ motions to dismiss the case.
- Representation of the former and first female CEO of the Recording Academy (most known for producing the GRAMMY Awards) in relation to claims of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and unequal pay.
- Representation of the Black former Global Head of Diversity and Managing Director at Wall Street bank Morgan Stanley, in relation to her much-publicized claims of race discrimination, retaliation and unequal pay.
- Representation of the former Chief of Staff to ousted WeWork CEO Adam Neumann, in connection to her claims of pregnancy discrimination and unequal pay.
- Representation of a former Managing Director at a global accounting firm in relation to claims of disability discrimination and retaliation.
- Representation of a proposed nationwide class against one of the nation’s largest department stores, alleging unlawful racial profiling of its shoppers of color.
- Representation of an Asian female private wealth management officer at Truist Bank, alleging claims of gender, race and age discrimination, including claims that she was victimized by a “boy’s club” mentality that permeated the bank.
- Representation of the former Director of Digital and Social Media at non-profit organization Foundation for a Smoke-Free World, alleging claims of whistleblower retaliation in connection with her complaints about apparent corruption and questionable tax practices at the organization.
- Representation of a former Business Development Associate at Thomson Reuters in connection with her claims of pregnancy discrimination and FMLA interference and retaliation, which included a favorable federal court decision denying, in part, the defendants’ motion for summary judgment.
